Seven Reasons to own the Good Men Project:
1. The Conversation is powerful and important: 31 guys share their stories with the world. These are stories about war and sexuality and sex and infidelity, redemption, death and marriage. Stories about men who are trying to be good fathers and men trying to be good sons. Are these guys all "good" men? Good question.
2. The Stories will Surprise and Engage you: Find out what it is like to be a photo-journalist in Iraq; one who believes he might want to return home, live a normal life, but finds himself drawn back over and over again to the foxholes.
How about the reluctant stay-at-home Dads, envious of men who go out to work?
Or how about the guy who's wife storms out of the house and in retrospect says, "Truth be told, I was leaving her?"
The stories are diverse, rich and absorbing.
3. It is hard to find a bad review of the The Good Men Project. One reviewer states clearly what the guys set out to do in the first place: "Each man's story sheds light on my own."
4. How often do you get the chance to meet and communicate with every character in a book? You can friend Tom Matlack, Jesse Kornluth, and Julio Medina on Facebook. Follow Perry Glasser, Mark St.Amant and Andre Tippett on Twitter. Read in our magazine columns by Keith Ackers, Ric Federico, or Steve Almond talking Toto. Comment on an interview with Christopher Koehler. Take a yoga class with Rolf Gates.
5. The Good Men Project is one of the best gifts for Dad, your brother, son or guy friend. Giving him this book will let him know you believe he is a Good Man. And you know what they say about Good Men - They are hard to find!
6. Yes, take it from me, without a doubt, us Ladies believe in The Good Men Project with all of our hearts. Why? There are so many scallywags out there: from Tiger Woods to Chris Brown...and when us Girls find Good Men, our faith in Mankind is restored. The Good Men Project is all about the Good Men, the Real Men standing up and stating their cause: They stand for everything that is good, moral, patriotic, faithful and honorable in a Man.
7. Proceeds from sales go towards at-risk boys and men. The Good Men Foundation is a registered New York State 501(c)(3) charitable corporation devoted to helping organizations that provide educational, social, financial or legal support to men and boys at risk. A part of every sale goes back to the Foundation. For example:
- when the Foundation gives $50 to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters, they can introduce a boy who is struggling to make sense of his world to a potential Big Brother;
- when the Foundation gives $25 to the Trinity Street Potential, that organization will have funds to buy art supplies for another week;
- when the Boys and Girls Club gets $100, they can buy a violin for their music class. Money buys tangible things that help at-risk boys. That’s why we donate it.
